Ferragosto In Florence

Ferragosto In Florence

August is notorious here in Florence for being a slow month. Offices and businesses close, Italians pack up their cars and head for cooler temperatures at the seaside, and tourists swarm the city in droves. But for those of you who will be in Florence in August, have no fear Tuscany Cycle is here!

Ferragosto In Florence: what is that?

Ferragosto takes place on August 15th and is a national holiday in Italy. Even most of the businesses, restaurants, and cafes that stay open for the month of August close for Ferragosto. So, the 15th of August is a great day to head outside of the city and do something different! Work up an appetite and pedal over to the Feste del Mugello at Obi Hall. There you can experience a traditional Italian “sagra”. A sagra is a festival that celebrates local fare, in this case, food from the Mugello region of Tuscany (the better bike circuit in Europe).
So, August 15th, celebrate ferragosto, get a workout, and partake in an Italian tradition! And if you are still looking for a way to cool off and escape the city, come for a trip into the countryside with Tuscany Cycle!
Our tours depart every day at 10am from our shop in Via Ghibellina 133/r. Enjoy your Italian holiday!
